This video is of a little abandoned church in Wilmer, Ontario. There's something sad and haunting about all these empty, little churches. I don't know if it's a common sight in other parts of the world but they seem to be everywhere around here. I suppose it's not that unusual, since so many people have stopped believing in and worshipping God. It was a beautiful, snowy Sunday afternoon, and I was driving home after playing organ in a church in Westport, Ontario. Everywhere I went was a potential postcard, but I didn't bother stopping anywhere until I came to this church. Psalm 17 Prayer for Deliverance from Persecutors A Prayer of David. 1 Hear a just cause, O Lord; attend to my cry; give ear to my prayer from lips free of deceit. 2 From you let my vindication come; let your eyes see the right. 3 If you try my heart, if you visit me by night, if you test me, you will find no wickedness in me; my mouth does not transgress. 4 As for what others do, by the word of your lips I have avoided the ways of the violent. 5 My steps have held fast to your paths; my feet have not slipped. 6 I call upon you, for you will answer me, O God; incline your ear to me, hear my words. 7 Wondrously show your steadfast love, O saviour of those who seek refuge from their adversaries at your right hand. 15 As for me, I shall behold your face in righteousness; when I awake I shall be satisfied, beholding your likeness.

"When I Wake (Psalm 17)" song by Hoss Hughes - As I was writing the lyrics, they came out of me very methodical in their rhythm so I put more of a traditional feel to the music. When I sang it to myself, I thought something was missing and then realized it needed a gentle female vocal with it. Enter my beautiful wife Katie...She provided the lead vocal while I did a little harmony on the chorus. I think it makes it much more tender and prayerful. My feet have not slipped. 6 I have called upon You, for You will answer me, O God; incline Your ear to me, hear my speech. 7 Wondrously show Your lovingkindness, O Savior of those who take refuge at Your right hand from those who rise up against them. 8 Keep me as the apple of the eye; hide me in the shadow of Your wings 9 From the wicked who despoil me, my deadly enemies who surround me. 10 They have closed their unfeeling heart, with their mouth they speak proudly. 11 They have now surrounded us in our steps; they set their eyes to cast us down to the ground. 12 He is like a lion that is eager to tear, and as a young lion lurking in hiding places. 13 Arise, O Lord, confront him, bring him low; deliver my soul from the wicked with Your sword, 14 From men with Your hand, O Lord, from men of the world, whose portion is in this life, and whose belly You fill with Your treasure; they are satisfied with children, and leave their abundance to their babes. 15 As for me, I shall behold Your face in righteousness; I will be satisfied with Your likeness when I awake.
